Fred R. Schwarten, 86, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Fred will be laid to rest at 11:15 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with military honors.
Fred was born November 13, 1932, to Fred H. Schwarten and Elsie Schneller Schwarten in Cleveland, Ohio. Fred was a sergeant in the United States Army for 2 years and served during the Korean war. After the military, he had a successful career as a master carpenter and cabinet maker. He was married to Janet Frech Schwarten for 50 years. After raising four children in Irving, Texas, he and his wife retired to Lake Whitney, Texas. Fred enjoyed fishing, traveling, and working on projects in his workshop.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred is survived by his wife, Janet Schwarten of Mansfield, TX, and his brother, Richard Schwarten, of San Diego, CA. He is survived by his children, Mark Misheck and wife Lisa of Heath, TX, Pamela Timmons and husband Timothy of Grand Prairie, TX, Brenda Prescott and husband Brian of Mansfield, TX, Michael Misheck and wife Kimberly of Irving, TX, Cheryl Anderson and husband Michael from Fairfax Station, VA, and Dena Green of Porter, TX. He is cherished by his grandchildren, Justin Penard and wife Stephanie. Zachary Misheck, Dylan Prescott, Casey Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Daniel Herb, Steven Green, Laura Hall, and Julia Green. He is also cherished by great grandchildren, Jack Penard, Kylie Hall, Keelie Hall, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was loved dearly by his family and friends. He was a hardworking, caring man
known for his giving heart, service to country, and devotion to family.
