Garland Allen

Garland Ray Allen, 76, of Axtell passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at The Atrium in Bellmead. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, at Peoria Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born October 24, 1939 in Paris, TX, he was the son of Delbert and Annie Mae (Wynn) Allen. He left high school early to join the United State Navy and served during the Viet Nam era. On June 29, 1961, Garland was united in marriage to Patricia Phelps in Dallas. The couple moved to Peoria in 1976. In 2002, he retired from being an owner in the transportation business. Garland enjoyed spending his spare-time being outdoors and going on hunting and fishing trips to Colorado and Alaska.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Patricia Allen, on March 17, 2000; and step-mother, Jewel Allen.

Survivors include his children, Ray Allen and wife, Andrea, of Axtell, Kasi Allen and husband, Terry, of McKinney, and Shannon Windham and husband, David, of Fredericksburg; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and step-sister, Janet Maloney.
