Gary Lynn Bighouse, age 67, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Facial mask and social distancing are required.
Gary was born on November 1, 1953, in Webb City, Missouri to Alden and Lola (Walker) Bighouse. He graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, TX in 1972. Gary later began working with Norris Bullard in his meat market. He trained to be a master butcher, working with Mr. Bullard for several years until he bought his own meat market in Arlington, Randall Mill Beef Center. In 1974, he became the “HAM-MAN" delivering his hams all over the nation to one company, Printpack Inc. for 42 years, while still owning his meat market and later tree business. This was a seasonal business known as Bighouse Meats. This company bought his hams to give their employees at Christmas time. When he sold his meat market, he moved to Whitney and began a tree trimming and removal business, G&B Stump Grinding & Tree Removal, and he became known as the “TREE MAN". He had this business until he winged his way to Heaven. Gary married Becky Peacock Harris on October 15, 2002 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the Great Smokey Mountains a place they returned to every October. Gary was a very strong willed and minded person, but he had a heart as big as Texas when it came to his pets. He loved his dogs with all his heart and made sure they were safe and happy. He enjoyed NASCAR, riding motorcycles, and traveling in his RV to different places in the U.S.
He is survived by his wife of 23, years, Becky; 3 step-daughters, Amber Seely and husband, Dustin, Holly Prochazka and husband, Matt, and Connie Spellman and husband, Glen; 9 step grandchildren, Makenzie, Mason, Harper, Averie, Layla, Everett, Abel, Glen IV, and Scarlett; and his best “furry friends”, Roxi, Bubba, and Booger.
