Gary Allen Standfast

Gary Allen Standfast, 63, of Malone, Texas, passed away on April 20, 2020 in White Settlement, Texas.   He will lie-in-state for visitation at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas on Saturday, April 25, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Memorial celebrations of life will be held and announced at a later date.

He was born on August 11, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri to Kenneth and Florence Irene (Dutton) Standfast and thus became a member of the Sioux Indian Tribe of Sisseton, South Dakota.  He graduated from Salem Senior High School in May of 1974.   Following a time working as a logger in the lumber industry, he entered Linn Technical College in Linn Missouri earning an Associate of Technology Degree in Aviation on May 12, 1989 along with an A &P (Airframe and Powerplant) License.   He was then employed by Sabreliner Aviation in Mcbryde, Missouri.  From there he went to McDonald Douglass in St. Louis, Mo. where he worked on F-18 Fighter Jets.  After his move to Texas he was employed by Raytheon/L-3 in Waco, Texas and for the past 17 years has been with Lockheed-Martin in White Settlement, Texas.   On November 3, 1990 Gary was married to Barbara Arlene Thompson in Los Vegas, Nevada.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; brothers, James (Jim), Jack, Al and Terry; daughters, Jessica Kittrell and Natasha Watson, stepdaughter, Samantha Pyatt and stepson, Danny Pyatt, five grandchildren, one great grandson along with multiple nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Darrell.

Gary had a real love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting and motorcycles which began in his childhood.   To date he still maintains a hunting lease to hunt with friends.  His love for motorcycles began with a dirt bike early on and progressed to his obsession for Harley Davidsons on which he and Barbara spent many hours of road and at rallies.
