Gaylon Hendricks, 81, of Hillsboro died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro Gaylon was born August 13, 1929 in Dallas. When he was a small child, his family moved to Hillsboro. He enlisted in the Army while attending Hillsboro High School. During his more than 20 years in the service, he served in Japan, Germany, Korea, Okinawa, and Viet Nam, retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class. In 1951 he married Kazuko Totori in Japan. Following his military career, the couple moved back to Hillsboro where Gaylon worked for Certainteed for 10 years before becoming a full time farmer. His hobby was hard work and taking care of his cows and the family farm. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceding him in death was his mother, Flora Pearl Frazier Hendricks; three brothers, Milton, Orville, and Everett; sister, Marcelle Neie; and two aunts who raised him, Mary Lee Frazier and Agnes C. Frazier. Survivors include his wife, Kazuko Hendricks of Hillsboro; two sons, Jess L. Hendricks and wife, Connie, of Richmond and Michael R. Hendricks and wife, Betty, of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
