Gene Fox

Oscar “Gene” Fox, 87, of Whitney, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 17th at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney with Brother Greg Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, 201 N. Bosque, in Whitney.

Gene was born in Murray County, Oklahoma, on August 30, 1931, to Oscar J and Donella (Caldwell) Fox. Gene graduated high school and worked as a farm hand. In 1952, he was drafted into the Army and he married Norma Franks on December 18, 1954. Gene worked at General Motors Assembly Plan in Arlington, retiring after 32.9 years to become a rancher.

Gene and Norma moved to Whitney in 1991. They attended First Church of the Nazarene there. Gene loved ranching and he was also a great gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Emma Jean Ratchford and Wandora Fullerton; and a brother, LaRue Fox.

Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma; a brother, Delford Fox; a sister, Rheka Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
