Gene McKibben 84, of Whitney passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at White Bluff Chapel with the Rev. Terry Cosby officiating. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6- 8 pm Monday, November 17, 2014 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.

Gene was born on June 15, 1930, in New Castle, to Orvil H. and Carrie Irene (Roman) McKibben. He grew up in Lake Jackson and played basketball at Tyler Jr. College and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where he is in the Hall of Honor for basketball. He also was an honored Eagle Scout.

On December 13, 1956, he married Lois Liles. Gene was a self-employed appraiser for his company, McKibben and Associates, for 50 years. An avid golfer and softball player, he also loved playing pinochle and croquet with his family. Playing dominos also provided him an entertaining time. Gene had an unconditional love for his family and friends.

He was member of White Bluff Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother and one grandson, West McClendon.

He is survived by his wife, Lois McKibben; children, Marcia Bales and husband, Don, Mike McKibben and wife, Susan, Brett McKibben and wife, Jennifer, Irene Klein and husband, Tony, and Morgan McClendon and husband, Elijah; nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to White Bluff Chapel, 1072 White Bluff Dr., Whitney, TX 76692.
