George Boyd

George L. ?Zippy? Boyd, 75, of Hillsboro died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Zippy was born November 10, 1932 in Peoria, Texas the son of George F. and Isabelle Barnes Boyd. He grew up and lived most of his life in the Peoria area. He started school in the Bethel Community and graduated from Hillsboro High School. On November 14, 1952 he married Joyce Tekell. He served his country in the United States Army. For 32 years he worked for General Tire. After retirement, he opened Zip?s Barber Shop for several years. Zippy was an original member of the Woodbury Western Band. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Boyd of Hillsboro; two sons, George Lynn Boyd and wife, Linda, of Burleson and Kevin Boyd and wife, Teresa, of Hillsboro; brother, Billy Gene Boyd and wife, Ruby Nell, of Grand Prairie; sister, Mary Francis Reid and husband, George H., of Waco; two grandchildren, George Lyndon Boyd and wife, Shayla and Lauren Boyd; and one great-grandchild, Jade Lacole Boyd. Memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
