George Rollins

George E. “Ernie” Rollins, 58, of Dallas passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, in Penelope. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Coffman Cemetery in Anna. Arrangments are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born January 2, 1960, in Dallas County, he was the son of Luther C. Rollins and Ramona Lavon (Peterson) Rollins Anderson. He grew up in Irving and Lake Dallas. A graduate of McArthur High in Irving, Ernie served as commander of his ROTC Unit in high school. After working for the Irving Police Department for about a year, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During a more than 22 year career with the Air Force, he attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and was stationed from Edwards Air Force Base to the Pentagon to McDill Air Force Base in Florida and also in Turkey. He served in honor guards for the Blue Angels, as well as, for four Presidents in his career. Following his military service, Ernie lived in Hubbard for a number of years and worked in Corsicana as manager of the Copy Center for more than 10 years. Known for his beautiful voice and love for singing, Ernie was privileged to sing the national anthem at Texas Stadium on one occasion. He was a big Elvis fan and avid Texas A&M supporter. He was of the Catholic faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; twin brothers, Ronald Ben and Donald Glen Parker; and his dog and companion, Trina.

Survivors include his sister, Vernene Finger and husband, William “Bill”, of Elm Mott; brother, Stephen Parker of Kansas; two nephews, Jeff Harris of San Antonio and Ronny Parker of Mississippi; two nieces, Autumn Springer and husband, Ryan, of France and Lisa Hugdahl of McKinney; four grand-nieces; and two grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Air Force Sergeants Association, 5211 Auth Road, Suitland, MD 20746.
