Gerald Ray Chastain, 73, of Whitney died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Lake Whitney Medical Center in Whitney. Gerald was born August 20, 1936 in Hillsboro the son of William T. and Eula Majors Chastain. Gerald was an avid fisherman and liked to hunt. For 16 years he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Amvets and was of the Protestant faith. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, David Michael Chastain; a brother, Howard Chastain; and a sister, Patsy Goodman. Survivors include his children, John H. Chastain of Quinlan, Donald W. Chastain of Whitney, Sherald E. Boone of Whitney, and Terri K. Ham of Whitney; step-daughter, Stormy M. Price of Irving; brother, Michael Chastain of Roseburg, Oregon; sister, Katherine Walker of Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren; great-grandson, Luke Tyler Chastain of Whitney; and the mother of his children, Sharron Rodriquez of Irving.
