Gerald Lee Miles

Gerald Lee Miles of Whitney passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the age of 81. He was born October 18, 1940, in Coolidge, Texas to M.O. and Dorothy Holman Miles. Gerald graduated from Coolidge High School, Tehuacana Junior College, Bible Baptist Seminary, and Dallas Mortuary School. He was manager of Piccadilly Cafeteria in Waco, Texas for 15 years and worked as a draftsman for C.L.T. Engineering firm in Dallas Texas. Gerald taught theology at various churches and seminaries. His favorite times were reading, studying the Bible and J. Vernon Mc See commentaries. Gerald and his grandson Paul had many discussions on Baptist doctrine.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitney, Texas. Gerald never met a stranger and upon meeting someone he had no problem witnessing to that person.

Gerald loved all children and was known by some as “the quarter man.” He thought all children should have a quarter in their pocket.

Gerald married Barbara Shelley of Whitney on November 23rd 1972 he was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Shelley Dawn Lippe.

Gerald leaves behind his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Lisa Corvison and husband Raul of Miami, Florida; a son, Lynn Miles of Abilene; brothers, Danny Miles and wife Brenda of Hubbard, Texas, Chris Miles and wife Darla of Waskom Texas; sisters, Judy Wilson of San Antonio, and Jeanette Pendel and husband Leo of Fancy Farm, Kentucky; grandsons, SGT. Paul Lippe of the Air Force and wife Amy of Biloxi, Mississippi; J.R. Corvison and wife Jessica of Miami, Florida, Tommy Miles and Gabriel Miles both of Dallas, Texas. two granddaughters Angie Smith and husband Taylor of Griffin, Georgia, and Sophia Miles of Dallas, Texas; great granddaughters, Caroline and Whitney Lippe of Biloxi, Mississippi and Penelope Corvison of Miami, Florida.

Visitation was Monday, February 7, 2022, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Funeral service was Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Jay Morris of First Baptist Church in Whitney officiating. Assisting with Gerald's grandson Paul Lippe. Reflections were given by Todd Kettler, and music will be played by Janis Rose.

Pallbears were Michael Lesly, Shaun Elmore, Mark Kettler, Kyle Howard, Danny Miles, Chris Miles, James Greenwade, and Buddy Cranford.
