Gerald “Mr. G” Peyton, 84, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Hillsboro. The family will have a memorial graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Scott Pelham officiating.
He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on October 31,1937, Jottie Peyton and Virginia Merle (Willis) Peyton. On June 1, 1957, Gerald was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joyce Annice Cheshier.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked in the corporate world with Piggly Wiggly and in 1981 opened Red and White in Mart, Texas, with his son, Dennis. In 1988, he purchased and ran the two Mr. G’s convenience stores in Hillsboro. Gerald retired around 2000. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker
Preceding him in death were his parents; his only son, Dennis Peyton; grandson, Christopher Peyton; brothers, Jottie Peyton, Jr. and Harrold Peyton; and sister, Mary Lynn Hashman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Peyton of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Becky Peyton of Whitney; brother, Billy Peyton and wife, Janie, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; sisters, Shirley Lenihan and husband, Mike, of Carlton, Iowa, and Katherine Boiling and husband, Wayne, of Bluff City ,Tennessee; grandkids, Steven Peyton of Whitney, Jennifer Copeland and husband, Matt, of Whitney, Samantha Lewis and husband, Tovah, of Georgetown, Shangrila Hester and husband, Dalton, of Whitney and Donovan and Savanah Pathak of Cleburne; and great-grandkids Cole, Gage, Ethan, Cohen, Collynn, Micah, Bryce, Peyton, Asher, and Olivi.
