Gerald (Jerry) Lee Shultz, son of Warren B. Shultz and Eula B. Shultz, was born November 4, 1947 in Swedeborg, MO. On Sunday, June 23 , 2019, Jerry, loving husband, father, and PaPa to his 2 grandchildren, passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer with his loving family and friends by his side at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Dylan Price officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. A visitation will be from 5-7 on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
Jerry gave his life to Christ at the young age of 10, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Swedeborg, MO and became a member of the church on March 8, 1980, in Springfield, MO. He was united in marriage with Vicki Bulger, and to their union was born one child, Linden Lee.
Jerry graduated from Richland High School in 1966.
Jerry was drafted during the Vietnam Era. He served proudly, feeling it was his duty. He completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, assigned as a tank mechanic at Ft. Hood, TX, then deployed to Phu Bai, Vietnam, where he served as company clerk, attaining E5 rank after serving in the military for only 13 months.
After discharge from the Army, Jerry pursued a degree in Agribusiness at Southwest Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO.
Jerry had a passion for fast cars, especially Corvettes, owning 18 in his lifetime, and was able to turn his hobby into his profession. He has numerous friends that were once his customers. He was known for his knowledge about Corvettes, his kind and compassionate spirit, and his love for all animals.
Jerry retired from Corvettes and Classics in Houston as Sales Manager in 2013, then relocated to Whitney to be near his grandchildren. He became a member of White Bluff Chapel after his retirement.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Lake Whitney Food Bank for many years and was a volunteer Texas Parks and Wildlife Rehabilitator for native Texas wildlife with a special fondness for fawns and skunks.
Jerry's biggest pleasure was spending time with his son and grandchildren. After retiring, his love of golf became his passion where he made numerous friends.
He is survived by his wife Vicki; two sons, Justin Shultz of St. Louis and Linden Shultz and wife, Alissa, and his granddaughter, Ophelia and grandson, Liam of Dalworthington Gardens, TX; sisters, Brenda Walkenbach and her husband, Al and Shirley Mitschele and her husband, Roy; cousins, nieces, nephews and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Eula Shultz.
He will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends and his loving pets.
Say not in grief he is not more but live in thankfulness that he was.
