Geraldine Williams

Geraldine Williams, 96, of Itasca passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 8, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Marble Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon-2:00 p.m. Friday prior to service time at the funeral home.

The daughter of Thomas Cate and Emma (Hobbs) Davis, she was born on December 22, 1921 in Itasca where she grew up and graduated from Itasca High School in 1940. She went on to attend Draughon’s Business College in Dallas. She was first married to Barger Little on January 12, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1954. She later married Ernest Whitson on September 7, 1956 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1973. On August 28, 1976, she and Maurice Williams were united in marriage in Itasca.

In 1932, she joined the Central Baptist Church in Itasca. At the age of 15, Geraldine began playing the piano for her Sunday school class and from 1963-1976 for church services. She moved to Fort Worth in 1976, but continued to maintain her church membership in Itasca. When she moved back to Itasca in 1981, she became the assistant pianist and organist of the church. In October 1989, she assumed the role of full time organist. Geraldine also served as the church clerk from 1986-1995.

During her working career, she was employed as a clerk for the Hill County Local Board #2 of the Selective Service System in Itasca from 1942-1947 and then for the Soil Conservation Service in Hillsboro from 1947-1951. She later became the secretary for Stufflebeme Brothers in Itasca from 1952-1967. In 1974, Geraldine became the secretary at Rangaire Corporation in Cleburne, retiring in 1975.

Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Maurice Williams of Itasca; nephew, Kenneth Davis and wife, Gloria, of Itasca; niece, Karen Brackin and husband, David, of Itasca; great-nephew, Harley Davis and wife, Sherry, of Itasca; and two great-nephews, Nolan and Joseph Davis, both of Itasca.
