Gerald "Jerry" Boyd Bailey

Gerald “Jerry” Boyd Bailey, 78, of Itasca, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, in Arlington.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Itasca Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Jerry was born on March 15, 1946, in Hillsboro, TX, to Boyd and Martha Naomi (Ellison) Bailey.  He attended school in Itasca and was a graduate of Itasca High School, where he played football and trumpet in the high school band.  In 1965, Jerry began farming and had many farms throughout Hill County.  He was active in the American Agriculture Movement.  While farming, Jerry also sold insurance on the side and owned an auction lot business.  After retiring from farming, he became a counselor and clergyman.  He was an avid deer and bird hunter. He was a past president of the Hillsboro Kiwanis Club.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his children, Bryan Bailey and wife, Nicole, of Kingsville, Jeff Bailey and wife, Jenni, of Abbott, Brooke (Bailey) Finney and husband, William, of Birmingham, AL, and Paige Bailey of San Francisco, CA; sister, Judy (Bailey) Daniel of Maypearl; 7 grandchildren, Marshall Bailey and wife, Victoria, Reece Bailey, Ryan Bailey, Madison Bailey, Crawford Bailey, Elizabeth Finney, and Olivia Finney; and two nephews, Matt Daniel and Stephen Daniel.
