Gladys Reid

Gladys M. Reid, 91, of Commerce, Texas died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Leonard Manor Nursing Home in Leonard, Texas. Gladys was born July 2, 1915 in the Huron Community in Hill County, Texas the daughter of James Wesley and Velma Pinckard Moore. On November 18, 1933 she married J. J. Reid in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1982. In 1941 they moved to California and stayed there until their retirement, moving back to Hill County in 1975. Gladys was an excellent seamstress. She was a long time member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro before moving to Commerce in 1995 at which time she became a member of the First Baptist Church there. Also preceding her in death were her parents, six brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include her children, Donald J. Reid and wife, Pat, of Commerce, Rilda Shaw and husband, Stan Konieczny, of Fair Port, NY, Jimmie L. Reid and wife, Paula, of Visalia, CA, and Gary L. Reid and wife, Gina Kay, of Eagleville, TN; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Peoria Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 443, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
