Glen Dumas

Glen R. Dumas, 74, of Hillsboro passed away in Dallas, on Wednesday evening, July, 2, 2014. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Will Lowrance and Rev. Kenneth James officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, July 5, at the funeral home in Hillsboro.

Glen Richard Dumas was born on May 21, 1940 in Hill County, Texas to Curtis and Wilma Faye Dumas. Glen graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of Texas at Austin in 1962, and a master’s degree in Education from North Texas State University.

After graduation, he taught English, history and economics at Itasca ISD. He married Patricia Garrett of Itasca on October 25, 1968. For more than 20 years, he served many roles in the Itasca school district, including elementary and high school principal, until his retirement in 1985.

Glen continued to farm through his retirement. In 1992, Glen established a Texas Historical Marker for the site of the Arnotville school house. His interests included genealogy, taking trips to South Carolina, and writing. Glen was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Doyle. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Dumas, of Hillsboro; son, Blake Dumas of Richardson; brother, Ralph Dumas and wife, Jeanene, of Grand Prairie; sister, Janice Looper of Benbrook; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
