Glenda Sue Adkins, 65, of Itasca passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Brother Earl Sides officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Glenda was born July 30, 1948 in Hillsboro to Joe Edward Brumbalow and Barbara Lorraine (Bingham) Mazzola. She grew up in Hillsboro and attended Hillsboro High School and Hill Junior College. On June 17, 1967, she married Neil Adkins in Hillsboro and they later settled in Itasca in 1976.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Adam Neil Adkins; and two brothers, Gene Brumbalow and infant brother, Michael Brumbalow.
Glenda was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She dearly loved children. Although she only had two of her own, her nieces and nephews were very special to her and a close part of her family. A very outgoing person, she cared about everyone and never met a stranger. Her care also extended to all her animals, which she loved and tended for. She was a caregiver to all her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Neil Adkins of Itasca, daughter, Charity Sue Adkins of Itasca, sister, Joyce Gosdin of Cleburne, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family.
