Glenn Gray, Sr

Glenn Edward Gray, Sr., 91, of Aquilla passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Homestead Nursing Home in Itasca. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in San Antonio with his son, Mr. Glenn Gray, officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Glenn was born February 3, 1921 in Silver to the late Edward B. and Eva (Conner) Gray. On February 14, 1946 he married Marjorie Simmons and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2004. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years.

Starting his preaching career as an interim and fill in minister in San Antonio, Glenn went on to serve Churches of Christ in Athens, Winters, Houston, Hamilton, and Baird. He later retired from the Woodland West Church of Christ in Arlington. He was most recently a member at Aquilla Church of Christ in Aquilla.

Glenn enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren by taking them to Six Flags. He was also an accomplished picture framer.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Ruthelle Wiggins and Sue Keevert; and one brother, Earl Gray.

Survivors include his children, Lynell Bruce and husband, Jack, of Lubbock, Janis Glenn and husband, Jimmy, of Kerens, and Glenn Gray, Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Aquilla; brother, Leonard Gray and wife, Marguerite, of Louisiana; sister, Leatrice Nixon of Kerrville; 6 grandchildren, Andy Glenn and wife, Sarah, of Midlothian, Tony Glenn and wife, Gina, of San Antonio, Rene’ Ballard and husband, Wesley, of Abilene, Kevin Bruce of Lubbock, Warren Gray and wife, Ashley, of Huntsville, and Christopher Gray of Dallas; and 4 great-grandchildren, Kelli and Addi Glenn of Midlothian, Kaden Ballard of Abilene, and Eisley Gray of Huntsville.

Memorials may be made to the Woodland West Church of Christ Hearts and Hands Ministry, 3101 West Park Road Dive, Arlington, TX 76013.
