Glenn Huddleston, 81, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 in Waco, Texas.
He was born November 4, 1941 to Winton and Fannie (Potter) Huddleston in Hillsboro, Texas, where he grew up. Glenn graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959. On July 18, 1964, he married Gloria Morgan in Hillsboro. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Agriculture from Sam Houston State University and did some graduate work at Texas A&M University. Glenn served as a Texas Agricultural Extension Agent for 25 years with most of those years being in Anderson County. In 1983, he received the Distinguished Services Award, the highest recognition given by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. Glenn was an active and beloved member of the Johnson County Iris & Daylily Society. He served as President of the organization for three years. He loved to show irises and won many awards. In August 2011, Glenn and Gloria were honored with an iris specifically hybridized by Tom Burseen for them. It is
beautiful just like their hearts and was named, Gloriafied Glenn and was introduced for sale to the public in 2012. Glenn and Gloria had an impressive iris and daylily garden where they cared for over a thousand different varieties of irises.
Survivors include his son, Brock Huddleston and wife Cheri of Liberty Hill, and his daughter, Sheri Woodson of Wylie; grandchildren Jaret and Everet Huddleston and Ethan and Sadie Woodson; brothers Dennis Huddleston of Bixby, Oklahoma and Norman Huddleston of Waco, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his wife, Gloria Huddleston; and son-in-law, Ben Woodson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Whitney, Texas.
