Glynn Killough

Marion Glynn Killough, 82, of Ovilla passed away on August 5, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waxahachie.

Glynn was born September 6, 1941, in Hubbard, Texas, to Paul and Carrie Lee Killough and was the fourth of six children. He was raised on a farm and farm life remained a part of his soul until the very end.

In 1959, Glynn graduated from Hubbard High School where he participated in FFA and took great pride in showing his Shorthorn cattle at fairs and stock shows throughout the state. He continued his education at Texas Instruments’ trade school in Dallas and launched into a career as a machinist. In 2004, he retired from defense contracting firm Varo Inc. in Garland as a tool crib supervisor after 34 years of employment.

Known for his unwavering work ethic, Glynn was always up before the sun and ready to take on the day’s tasks at hand. Even as his life became simpler in his later years, he still wanted to “work” and was always willing to offer a helping hand to others. His career went beyond his job as a machinist. He also owned and operated his own small engine repair shop Killough Sales & Service for over 20 years, and he continued to manage and work his farmland in Malone, Texas.

Family came first for Glynn. On June 8, 1963, Glynn married Emma Jean (Jeanie) Schulze of Malone. Together they started their journey in Oak Cliff, bought their first home in Ferris, and then moved to Lancaster where they raised their two daughters Janet and Nancy. In 1997, Glynn and Jeanie moved to Ovilla and established a home that became the center of activity and fun for their grandchildren Cole, Claire, Caroline, and Ben. Glynn embraced his role as PaPaw and was quick to tell others that the grandkids were the best part of his life.

Glynn was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Carrie Lee Killough; brother, Carroll Killough; sister, Joyce Pringle; brother-in-law, Gene Pringle; and sisters-in-law, Sybil Killough and Sarah Killough.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Killough; daughters, Janet (Tim) Burrow and Nancy (Drew) Risinger; grandchildren, Cole Risinger and fiancée Emily Beam, Claire Risinger, Caroline Burrow, and Ben Burrow; brothers, Donald Killough and Dwain Killough; sister, Janice (Charles) Trompler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Glynn’s memory to The Building Fund at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 301 US 287 Bypass, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
