Gregory Francis ?Shorty? Gremminger born January 26, 1924 in Scotland, Texas, died at 83 years on July 28, 2007, after a long and hard fight with cancer. Shorty was a loving husband and father, faithful to God and his country. As a Navy serviceman, he was awarded the American, Good Conduct and Victory WWII medals as an Aviation Metalsmith Third Class. He settled in Hillsboro in the 1950's and made it his home thereafter. A husband of 58 years, he is survived by his wife, Dolores Bierschenk Gremminger; 7 children - Kathy Remkes and late husband, Bob of Kingwood, Texas; Diane Farthing and husband, Kenny of Duluth, Georgia; Larry Gremminger and wife, Lois of Richmond, Texas; Raymond Gremminger and wife, Kathy of West, Texas; James Gremminger and wife, Cathy of West, Texas; Mary Lewis and husband, Sam of Hillsboro, Texas; and Brenda Schwartz and husband, Keith of Flower Mound, Texas; 17 grandchildren Robert, Jonathan, Paul, Tricia, Gregory, Jesse, Pamela, Amy, Brian, Renee, Angie, Jamie, Jake, Lindsay, Lauren, Mia, Cole, and 7 great grandchildren Elizabeth, Mac, Jake, Madeline, Kate, Abigail, Alexis with another great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Walter Gremminger of Weatherford, Texas and sister, Beatrice Steele of Denver, Colorado. He will always be remembered with a smile on his face, a farming story to be told, and always rough-housing and joking with the grandchildren. He was a man with a big heart and lots of love to share.
