Guadalupe C. Solis

Guadalupe C. “Peanut” Solis, 79, of Itasca passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro, with Deacon Denver Crawley officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.

Guadalupe was born July 23, 1936 in McDade to Cosme and Rebecca (Cortez) Solis. On September 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Josephine Moralez in Hillsboro. He was a mechanic at Gardner Equipment.

He was known to his many friends as “Peanut” and affectionately to his family as “My Deleno.” He loved rebuilding old cars, especially his 56' Chevy. Guadalupe loved watching his grandchildren play sports and dancing with his wife. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Connie Estrada.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Josephine Solis of Itasca; children, Rosie Handy, Lupe Solis, Jr. and wife, Janice, Theresa Salazar and husband, Ricky, Patricia Miller and husband, Bobby, and Steve Solis, all of Itasca, Judy White, of Hillsboro, Lola Parkis of Dallas, and Victor Solis and wife, Leah, of Itasca; three brothers; six sisters; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
