He was the older of two sons born to Guy Graham Shaw and Rena Buatt Atkinson. Guy attended high school in Kaufman and college at Texas A&M University. He graduated from the Baylor College of Medicine on June 3, 1940. He served in World War II as the Division Surgeon for the Army's 63rd Division in Europe. He practiced medicine in Kaufman, Texas from 1946-1971. In 1971, he retired and relocated to Lake Whitney, Texas where he practiced anesthesiology for the next five years before fully retiring at the age of 62. He lived at Lake Whitney until his death. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 43 years, Catherine Nolan Shaw, and his brother, Robert A. Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Earnestine Coutret Shaw, his sons Guy G. Shaw III, MD and his wife Barbara and children Adam G. Shaw and Stephen A. Shaw, Robert N. Shaw and his wife Sarah, his nephew Jack L. Nolan and his wife Billye and their children Nina Nolan and Jack L. Nolan, Jr., his wife's children Mary Ann Schneider and her husband Don, Janet Curry and her husband Carroll, Steve Coutret, his wife's grandchildren Scott Schneider and his wife Elizabeth, Katie and Taylor Throckmorton, Haley Coutret, Ashley Coutret and great grandchildren Bo and Margot Schneider and Autumn Throckmorton. For those desiring, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Guy's name to the Convenant House, 1111 Lovett Blvd. Houston, TX 77006 or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
