Gwendolyn Dolores Eubank Jones, 89, of Whitney, passed away on July 2, 2018 in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2018, at King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney, with Rev. Brad Slaten, and Rev. Denise Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors is Whitney.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” was born January 16, 1929 in Whitney to Robert and Estella (Brady) Eubank and grew up in the Whitney area.

She married Gus Glen Jones, Sr in May of 1947 after meeting at a popcorn machine at The Texan in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2010.

After she and Gus returned from his two service years in Germany, they lived in west Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah while working for oil companies. After sixteen years they returned to Whitney to run a gas station, work at the Whitney hospital and at the local museum. While doing all of these activities, she farmed and ranched the land she owned.

“Granny” Jones will be remembered by family and friends as a hardworking, caring lady who loved her family, church, and the land. She loved teaching little ones at church while serving as a class grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.

She was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and all of her siblings.

Survivors include her son, Gus Glen Jones, Jr and wife, Frances of Whitney; son-in-law Lloyd Jolly of Austin; grandchildren Savannah Kovac and husband, Nick of Oklahoma, Cameron Jolly of Austin, Gus Jones and wife, Laini, of Whitney and Neil Jones of Burleson; great-grandchildren, Xavier Chavez and Lulu “Doll” Jones along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to King Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 612, Whitney, TX 76692.
