Burial will be at Noon Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12th at the funeral home.

Gypsy was born August 10, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to Thurman and Helen (Ferguson) Blalock. She graduated from Bronte High School at the age of 15 in 1950, attended Baylor University at the age of 16, then transferred to Hardin Simmons University and later Texas Tech University. Gypsy married Joe Dell Gardner on December 20, 1953 in Odessa, Texas and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2017.

Gypsy and Joe raised four daughters who blessed them with 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  In the midst of raising and enjoying her family, Gypsy wore many hats. Gypsy lived up to her name and moved a number of  times following her husband with his career. Together, she and Joe lived in numerous places in Texas as well as Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas and Colorado. She worked in the Oil Business, Retail, Education, Social Work, Real Estate, Insurance, Financial and Estate Planning before retiring to Hillsboro in 2002. She and Joe were founding members of the NTAC community and she was a member NTAC Ladies Club, Monday Review Club and First Baptist Church of Hillsboro.

Gypsy and Joe enjoyed traveling with the Airstream community in their retirement years and were fortunate to be able to see this great country as well as Canada.  In retirement and in their travels, Gypsy volunteered on many committees and loved to help prepare delicious meals for large gatherings in the community.  She was always prepared to take on a challenge and enjoyed volunteering in many different roles where she saw a need. Gypsy was a mother who loved her family and was a woman who shared her love with all.   She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, family, friends and many who enjoyed her fabulous cooking! Gypsy was a woman of valor.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Deborah and Lyn Sockwell of Midland, Dawn and Randy Truesdell of Coppell, Danna and Steven Pohler of The Woodlands and Dara Poole of Hillsboro; brother and sister in law, Sam and Mona Blalock of Houston; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. A granddaughter, Kelsey Pohler preceded her in death.
