Hal Beaty, 71, of College Station passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, in College Station. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the funeral home.
Born January 9, 1943 in Hillsboro, Hal was the son of Clara (Cooper) Wade Beaty. As a young boy, he lived in Indiana and Elm Mott but spent most of his school years in Hillsboro. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hill Junior College. Following graduation, he worked at B&J Sales. In 1964, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving in Viet Nam. Upon his return from the service in 1967, Hal went to work for Hillsboro Federal Savings and Loan. He would later leave there and go to work at Rio Vista State Bank in 1981, where he remained until retiring in 1993. At the time of his retirement, he was Executive Vice President.
On March 29, 1996, he was united in marriage to Connie Williams in Las Vegas, Nevada. An avid baseball lover, Hal collected many baseball memorabilia. He also enjoyed watching track and field and football. He was a season ticket holder for the Texas Aggies girls basketball team. Hal was a member of Central Baptist Church in College Station. Preceding him in death were his mother and cousins, Gene Wood and Judy Hunt.
Survivors include his loving wife, Connie Beaty of College Station; two step-children, Stan Rose of Austin and Alan Rose of Oregon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Newsom and husband, Walter, of Bryan and Sharon Sawyer and husband, Don, of McKinney; two nephews, Greg and Brad Newsom; great-niece and great-nephews, Kristin Newsom and Kody and Kyle Newsom; and cousins, Mike Leatherwood and wife, Karen, Marilyn Sanders, Lana Crow and husband, Lew, Jack Wood and wife, Connie, and Karen Wood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
