Harland Ray Hartley, 78 of Whitney passed away November 10, 2009. Harland was born on November 22, 1930 in Whitebead, OK; the son of the late Luther and Irene Owens Hartley. He served his country in the United States Navy. He had worked as a accountant for Santa Fe Railroad retiring in 1992. On April 4, 1980, he married Shirley Johnson in Pauls Valley, OK. Harland was a member of Whitney Eastern Star Chapter #930; Blum Eastern Star Chapter #931; Whitney Masonic Lodge # 355; Blum Masonic Lodge #607; the Commandry in Hillsboro and Scotish Rite Masons Anadahko Lodge #176 in Whitney, and the Tranquility Lodge # 2000 in Angleton. A very active and faithful member of Blum United Methodist Church and he also did volunteer work at Our Daily Bread Food Bank. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Whitney; children, Jeff Hartley and wife, Christy of Denver, CO, Patti Ruth of Amarillo, Penny Draper of Amarillo, Jim White and wife, Brenda of Missouri City, Perri Lynn Nance and husband, Larry of Burleson; sisters, Susie Scheffler and husband, Bob of Galveston, Mildred of Omaha; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
