Harlston Griffin

Hardy was born Aug. 2, 1938 in Hillsboro to Curtis M. and Leta Faye Stanford Griffin and grew up in the Vaughan and Abbott communities. He served in the U.S. Army after he got out of school. A truck driver all his working life, he worked for many years at Leeway Motor Freight and ABF Freight where he retired in April of 2004. On Dec. 1, 1992, he married Emma Arnett in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Limestone Baptist Church in Balch Springs. Hardy enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for his family. He also was an avid fan of anything fast - racing cars, airplanes, or whatever! A devoted family man, he loved his family deeply. Especially his grandkids and great grandson. Survivors include his wife, Emma Griffin of Mesquite; daughter, Tammie Sands and husband Joel of Pflugerville; two step-children, Emma Max and husband Marvin of Dallas, and Lee Bock and wife Donna of Gun Barrel City; six grandchildren, Trey McMurtray, Ashley McMurtray, Travis Sands, Tammy Ray, Donna Rowe, and Robert Max; and one great grandson, Nathan Ray.
