Harold Frederick "Freddie" Bassinger

Harold Fredrick (Freddie) Bassinger, 72, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away in the late hours of August 20, 2024.  A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born in Ranger, Texas, on December 24, 1951, Freddie was the only child of Harold and Marie Bassinger.

Freddie met his wife Lisa in 1972, they married in 1976, then had children Charles in 1980 and Stephanie in 1982.  He made family a top priority in his life by being a part of sports activities with his children, taking his family on cross country vacations, being a good listener, having a wonderful sense of humor, and offering guidance during difficult times.

Spending time with friends regularly and going out to public events were some of Freddie’s favorite things to do. Some of the public events he enjoyed were theater, art galleries, live music performances, street festivals, and counterculture celebrations.

His 40+ year career as a Social Worker earned him respect and recognition from the community.  During his personal time at home after work he could be found mowing the lawn, doing yardwork or repairs, taking a dip in the swimming pool, driving around his property, or building bonfires.

Freddie loved people and they loved him back.  He was genuinely kind, likely to laugh at your jokes, and often had a smile on his face.  He made a positive impact on the world during his time here and will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
