Harry was born in Hillsboro on Sep. 30, 1929 to Bonnie Emma Haney and Amos Virgil McCoy. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School where he played football. Following high school, he attended Hillsboro Junior College. In February of 1951 he entered the U.S. Army. It was on November 21st of that same year that he married Valorie Craig in Malone, Texas. Following his Army service, the couple settled in Dallas. He was employed as a supervisor in the Parts Division of General Motors for 33 years. An excellent craftsman, he also owned and operated Harry's Cabinet Shop for a number of years. Harry was outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved to help his neigbors on his paper route in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time tending the cattle on his farm near Whitney. He was of the Methodist faith. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers - Bill, Robert, and Charles McCoy. He is survived by his wife, Valorie McCoy of Dallas; two daughters, Janet Reed and Julie McCoy, both of Dallas; two grandchildren, Ariel Reed of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ava Reed of Dallas; and two sisters, Katherine Powers of Dallas and Helen Lavender and husband, George, of Arlington.
