Harold Eugene Swaffar

Harold Eugene Swaffar, age 79 of Granbury passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Medical Center of Fort Worth in Fort Worth. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro.

Harold was born October 5, 1941, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Walter Lee and Willie Ann (Huckaby) Swaffar. He was a loving and kind husband and father. He loved to spend time with his family and tell stories of his life. It was not uncommon to hear him break out a funny old limerick or song in response to a question or situation. He loved to laugh, and if he picked on you that meant he loved you. He loved airplanes and flying and had almost gotten his full pilot’s license. He was a brilliant mind that could fix anything, big or small. He loved working in his wood shop…he called it “piddling,” but we called what his hands could create “amazing”!

Harold loved to listen to Elvis mostly, but he enjoyed bluegrass gospel and any country artist that could tell a story with his songs and do it with some good harmony. He loved people and would accept them just as they were. He was the kind of person we all should be. He was our encourager, comfort giver, advisor, and heart mender. He will be greatly missed. He cried two single tears as the Lord called him home. We believe one was for the sorrow of leaving and the other for the joy of going home to reunite with his family in heaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, John Swaffar and Vern Swaffar; two sisters, Clara Harris and Patricia Ann Landers.

Harold is survived by his wife, Vivian Swaffar of Granbury; his children, Sheri Lynn Matthews of Alvarado, TX, Kelli Michele Swaffar of Durant, OK, April Jeanne Thornton and husband Bryan of Alvarado, TX, John Loren Powell and wife DeAnna of Stephenville, TX, and Jerry Lance Powell and wife Kelly of Ft, Worth, TX; brother-in-law, Jim Landers; nine grandchildren, Brandon Matthews, Lisa Rohman, Chris Starnes and wife Faith, Corbin Powell, Lexi Powell, Macie Powell, Wyatt Thornton, Tyler Tutle and wife Ali, and Cole Tutle; three great-grandchildren, Avery Tutle, Nate Rohman, and Brianna Rohman.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
