Harry Frank Holland, 90, of Abbott went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday evening, January 21, 2007, at his home. Harry was born May 3, 1916 in Abbott, Texas the son of Harry Frank and Mary Elizabeth Henderson Holland, Sr. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1939 after completing high school in Abbott and attending Hillsboro Junior College. At A&M, he played on both the basketball team and the A&M National Championship football team. He served his country in both the Army National Guard and the Corp of Engineers. He was a deacon in Abbott Baptist Church for over 60 years, where he was an active member. A lifelong farmer, he also served on the boards of Hilco Electric, Abbott ISD, Soil & Water Conservation, and HOT Council of Governments for over 50 years. Harry Frank worked many jobs including The Hill County Farm, where he served as manager, in the Department of Agriculture, in the War Department during the beginning of WWII and as a GI school teacher throughout Hill County. He also taught vocational agriculture at Abbott and was the founding teacher of the Ag department at Hillsboro Junior College. He was a licensed real estate agent/broker. In addition, he served as the Abbott City Secretary for 19 years. He was a member of both the Hillsboro and West Masonic Lodges, The Order of Eastern Star, York Rite of Masonry, Scottish Rite and Shrine and received the Golden Trowel Award in 1999. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Cecil Holland, W. M. Holland, Weldon ?Nookie? Holland, and two infants; one sister, Bera Holland Barnett; and two wives. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Mozelle Holland of Abbott; two sons, Danny Cargile and wife Rena Vee of Abbott and Rickey Cargile and wife, Carie of Hubbard; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
