Helen Wagner

Helen Nadine Finnegan Wagner, 92, of Euless passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 17, 2024, at Life Care Center of Haltom. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor David Barnett officiating. A burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. November 30, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro.

Helen was born March 11, 1932, to Sidney and Maudie (Moore) Thomas at Meridian in Bosque County. Her brothers and sisters affectionately remember her as a clever child, hot-wiring their father's '32 Chevy when she was nine years old. She was the first sibling to graduate high school in Whitney.

Helen was introduced to her husband, Bernie Finnegan Sr., by her brother Elmoe who served alongside him in Normandy during WWII. She married the "man with the most beautiful blue eyes" May 31, 1949, in Whitney. Helen and Bernie lived in Whitney, Houston, Hillsboro and Dallas before eventually moving to Euless in 1959. She continued to raise her three children there after her dear husband passed away in 1963.

After retiring from Minyard Food Stores, Helen spent her golden years volunteering with the Euless Citizen's Police and Fire Academies. She also enjoyed gardening in her spare time, taking great pride in her peach tree and rose bushes. Helen was a faithful member of New Life Assembly of God in Hurst.

Helen is survived by her brother James "Bill" Thomas of Whitney; sister Mary Sue Brooks and husband Welborn of Whitney; sister Ladean Hill of Whitney; her three beloved children, Wendell Finnegan and wife Sandy of Haltom City; Sharon Finnegan of Euless; and Bernie Finnegan Jr. and wife Melissa of Marlin; three grandchildren, Tonia Tarwater and husband James of Wichita Falls; John Finnegan and wife Jacki of Casper, Wyoming; and Cody Finnegan and Wife Harley of Marlin; seven great grandchildren Tiffany Tarwater of Fort Worth; Kristi and Bethany Tarwater, of Wichita Falls, Joseph Ryan and wife Libby Tarwater, of Iowa Park, Texas, Jessica, Jacob, and Joseph Finnegan of Casper, Wyoming; and Dakota Finnegan of Marlin; and a great great granddaughter Hannah Wallot of Fort Worth.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Sid and Maudie Thomas, of Whitney; husband Bernie Finnegan Sr.; brothers Rayburn and wife Sue Belle of Whitney; Elmoe Thomas and wife Joann of Whitney; Travis "Tommy" Thomas and wife Nelda of Whitney; Buford "Jackie" Thomas; sister Jimmie Nell Ashley and husband Treat of Whitney; and brother-in-law Howard Hill of Whitney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Assembly of God, 812 Harrison Lane Hurst, TX 76053.

Helen's daughter, Sharon Finnegan, will not be able to attend services due to a hospitalization. Condolences may be mailed to Sharon Finnegan in the care of Tiffany Tarwater, P.O. Box 922 Colleyville, Texas 76034.
