Helga Threlkeld

Helga Gerda Threlkeld 69, of Whitney, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 in West. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Rev. Greg Johnson will be officiating.

Helga was born on December 31, 1948 in Hammelburg, Germany to Kurt Gerhard and Margarete Dorothea (Poschmann) Zubke. Helga grew up in Germany and attended school there. She immigrated to the United States on December 6, 1972 and Helga became a United States Citizen on May 30, 2000.

On December 26, 1972 she married Harry Franklin Threlkeld in Thayer, Mo. From 1972 thru 1977 she along with her husband lived in 24 different locations all over the eastern part of the United States. Their daughter was born in Metairie, La. in 1977, later they moved to Perrie SD where they lived for 7 years. The family moved to Whitney in August of 1984 so Harry could begin a career with the U. S. Corp of Engeneers. From 1986 to 2010 she worked for the Whitney I.S.D. as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, gardening and spending time with her husband, daughter and grandson. Helga always enjoyed working with kids, they were her life. She was of the Protestant faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Threlkeld, of Whitney, daughter, Candis Susan Bradshaw of Muncy Pa. sister, Margarete (Sausi) Seidmann, of Hammelburg, Germany, grandson, William Phillip Theron Bradshaw, of Lewisberry, Pa.
