Henrietta Coventry left this life peacefully Sunday evening, September 15, 2013. Funeral services for Mrs. Coventry will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. There will be a visitation prior to the service on Thursday.

Henrietta was born Henrietta Brumme on July 18, 1917, to Henry and Pauline Brumme in Choctaw, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of two children and her younger sister was named Betty Lou. During her school years, Henrietta participated in various sports, especially swimming, tennis, golf and basketball which was her favorite. After graduating from high school in 1935, she went to college at Oklahoma A&M, which is now Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. After college she married Fred Johnson and they had two sons, Fred Curry Johnson and Blake Lee Johnson. She worked part-time and one of her jobs she particularly enjoyed was modeling for Neiman Marcus. After many years of marriage, Henrietta was widowed. Having been acquainted through her first husband, Henrietta and Vaden Coventry were married on February 22, 1967. They have enjoyed 46 wonderful years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; sister, Betty Lou Miller; and her son, Fred Curry Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. William Vaden Coventry and his family; and her younger son, Blake Lee Johnson and his family.

Memorials may be made to the Whitney Memorial Park, P.O. Box 889, Whitney, TX 76692.
