Henry Doak

Henry Ludwig Doak, 89, of Whitney, passed away on July 10, 2015 at a Cleburne hospital A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Thomason Funeral Home in Weiser, Idaho. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, Idaho.

Henry was born on August 23, 1925, in Brownsville, Oregon, the son of Anthony Wayne and Olga Helen (Hahn) Doak. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Madie “Sue” Ritter and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2006.

He built his very first commercial fishing boat and as owner and operator, he worked as a commercial fisherman in Wrangell, Alaska, for about 30 years. Prior to working in Alaska, he was a farmer and rancher outside of Weiser, Idaho. Before that he owned a logging company in Shady Cave, Oregon.

He moved to Kamiah, Idaho and lived there for 18 years. While living there, he enjoyed woodworking and going to the woods. He also returned to Alaska every summer for fishing trips with his son.

In 2006, he moved from Kamiah to Whitney to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Howard Doak, and his first wife, Lena Lorraine Warfield.

Survivors include his children, Lou House and husband Robert “Tim” of Whitney, Lucky Goodwin and husband, Claude Thompson of Canadian, Dan Doak and wife, Cathy Warner of Wrangell, Alaska, Nancy Mink and husband, Jim of Wilder, Idaho and Cherry Mallicoat also of Wilder; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and a niece, Kim.
