Herbert Hill

Herbert Hill, 76, of Whitney, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at his residence. Services will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 20, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Dr. Gerald Dudley, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 7 - 9 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the funeral home.

Herbert was born on April 1, 1938, in Whitney, to Hiram Herbert Hill, Sr. And Bertie (Cooper) Hill. On November 30, 1957, he married Edwa (Tommie) Worley in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He loved farming and ranching. Woodworking, watching old western movies, listening to southern gospel music and studying his Bible were his favorite pastimes.

He was a member of Open Range Cowboy Church of Whitney and also the Whitney Masonic Lodge Post #355. Herbert served his country in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laurecia Patalon; grandson, Vic Patalon; and a brother, Kenneth Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie Hill; children, Chris Hill and wife, Alpha, Syndi Slaughter and husband, Alvin, David Hill and wife, Kristi, Tammie Daniels and husband, Brad, Tina Carrell and husband, Chris, and son-in-law, Victor Patalon; 14 grandchildren, Brandy Robinson, Houston Hill, Ezra Slaughter, Lacey Brown, Amanda Nightingale, Kenneth Hill, Megan Hill, Hannah Patalon, Nathan Patalon, Braxton Daniels, Gracie Daniels, Lillie Daniels, Ashlee Carrell, Conner Carrell, and Ellania Carrell; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister Becky Tekell and husband, Charles.
