Herman Nelson

Herman was born December 4, 1920 in Milford, Texas to John Reece and Emma Clementine Himmel Nelson. He was raised in Hill County. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1939 he married Helen Katherine Pope. For many years he worked for the Southland Corporation in Houston, before retiring to Plantersville, TX. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Carolyn Joyce Nelson in 1971; and a sister, Velma Maxwell in 1998. Survivors include six children, Larry Don Nelson and wife, Donna, of Granbury, Judith Lee and husband, Pete, of Whitney, Beth Wright and husband, Mike, of Burleson, Janice Trammel of Burleson, Dean Nelson of Clifton, and Randy Nelson of North Carolina; 16 Grandchildren; and 15 Great Grandchildren.
