Hermia T. Solash, 78, of Hillsboro passed away on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in Hillsboro after a lengthy illness. She was buried on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Mineral Wells with her first husband, Louis J. Rochat, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1972. Hermia was born January 7, 1929 in Ravenna, KY the daughter of Thomas D. and Mary B. Johnson. She met and married Louis Rochat in Elizabethtown, KY while he was stationed at Fort Knox in the United States Army. They had three children, Louis J. Rochat, III, Larry L. Rochat Sr., and Mary M. Rochat. After Louis? death, she married Mr. Lazarus Solash and moved to Hillsboro where he managed the Martin-McDonald Department Store. She was a member of the Hillsboro Garden Club and Eastern Star organizations. She held various jobs during her life but was proudest of her duties as a Basic Instrument Flight Instructor for the U. S. Army Primary Helicopter Flight Training School at Fort Walters, Texas during the Vietnam War. She also proudly served the United States of America as the wife of an Army officer, enduring three one year separations during overseas assignments; having a son who was wounded as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam; and a son who served as a career Army pilot. She very proudly wore three sets of U. S. Army Pilot Wings and her own Flight Instructor Wings. Also preceding her in death was her second husband, Laz Solash, in 1993; a sister, Mrs. Jean T. Bott; and a brother, Mr. Thomas D. Johnson. Survivors include three children, Louis J. Rochat, III of San Antonio, Larry L. Rochat Sr. of Hillsboro, and Mary M. Rochat of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Mrs. Celena Hendrix, Mrs. Amy L. Huff, U. S. Air Force Captain Larry L. Rochat, Jr., and Mrs. Amanda K. Vineyard; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
