Hoise Halbert

Hoise Halbert, 88, of Alvarado passed away Friday, September 28, 2018, at Alvarado Meadows Nursing and Rehab. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018, at Peoria Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.

Born August 10, 1930, in Hill County, he was the son of Lee and Fannie Mae (Cummins) Halbert. Following his service in the United States Army, Hoise returned to the family farm to help his father. In the early 1950's, he worked in the oil fields of the Permian Basin near Odessa. He moved back to Hillsboro for a time before settling in Houston for many years. For the past few years, he had been a resident of Alvarado.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Bernita Halbert in 2010; and 12 siblings.

Survivors include his daughter, Vicky Sue; step-son, Gene Bryant and wife, Sue, of Manvel; sister, Reva Oliver of Burleson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
