Hollis Benfer

Hollis B. Benfer, 80, passed away Friday, July 2, 2004 in Waco. Memorials: may be made to the American Heart Association of a charity of choice. Mr. Benfer was born August 6, 1923, to Sam Joe and Florence Dunn Benfer. He grew up in the Whitney area and attended school in Prairie valley. He served in the U.S.Army during WWII. He lived in White Settlement for several years and worked for General Dynamics during that time. Mr. Benfer married Juanita Clausell Sept. 12, 1942. She preceded him in death March 15, 1991. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Prairie Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Doyle; infant brother; sister; and niece. Survivors: Daughter, Polly Sue Wilson of Alvarado; sister Nell Carter-Gann and husband Leonard of Azle; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and special family friend, Mary Ruth McKennon.
