Homer Dale Upchurch, 57, of Itasca passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Providence Park St. Catherine’s Center surrounded by loved ones. Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Brian Upchurch officiating.

Homer was born on August 17, 1962, in Milford, Texas to James Russell Upchurch and Francis Lucille (Collins) Upchurch. He graduated from Covington High School in 1981. In his search for a career path he found a love for powerline work. That love and dedication led to 36 years of passionate hard work. Homer married Juanita Faye Whipkey in 1982. In 1985 they welcomed their first daughter, Jessica and in 1988 their second daughter, Amanda. Homer enjoyed spending time with his girls and grandchildren as well as hunting, fishing, playing dominos and horseshoes.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Linda Allison.

Survivors include daughters, Jessica Callaway and husband, Kevin of China Spring; Amanda Upchurch - Caro and husband, Bryan of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren Tyler, Logan and Tinsley Callaway of China Spring; brother Jimmy Upchurch of Osceola, sister, Janie Perkins of Campwood; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
