Homer “Gue” Ward 90, of Whitney passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Mayfield and Rev. Bobby Booth. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will at Whitney Memorial Park following the service.

Homer was born on July 9, 1925 in Whitney, to the late Homer Calvin and Lena Blanche (Ivy) Ward. On August 28,1944 he married Jeanetta Kissinger she preceded him in death on March 14, 2011. Homer worked for Wilsons Manufacturing in Clifton for 37 years. He enjoyed farming and ranching and tending to his cattle. His other interests were woodworking and gardening and in his younger years he enjoyed fox hunting. Homer was a member of Triangle Park Baptist Church in Whitney.

Also preceding him in death was his daughter Bonnie Ward Shackelford.

Survivors include his children, Rellis Merle Ward and wife Bev of Sugarland and Larry D. Ward and wife Jan of Whitney; brothers, Bobby Ward and wife Helen of Whitney, Joe Ed Ward and wife Pat of Hillsboro, Jerry Ward and wife Janet of Arlington; sisters, Velma Gunner of Whitney, Ruth Iley of Arlington, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
