Horace “Wayne” Williams, 91, of Itasca passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Community Hospice House in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the Central Baptist Church in Itasca with Pastor Matt Dugan officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Wayne was born September 12, 1928, in Abbott, Texas, to Josiah and Willie Williams. He was raised on a farm with his two sisters and two brothers. He was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Summerhill on June 1, 1950. That union lasted 53 years until Joyce was called home in May 2003. Wayne served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. For most of his adult life, he worked for Hill County Electric in Itasca but later was employed by Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro and funeral homes in Wortham and Mexia. Wayne was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Itasca for many years.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, Josiah and Willie Williams; two sisters, Dora Podsednik and Beady Taylor; two brothers, James Williams and Ruel Williams; and an infant grandson, David Rex Jean.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Mary Williams; daughter, Pam Jean and husband, Rex; grandchildren, Jeff Jean and Lindsey Reneau; and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Alice Reneau.
Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church, 400 E. Monroe St., Itasca, TX 76055.
