Hugh Horace Cliett, 85, of Hillsboro died Tues., Aug. 24, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Hugh Horace was born June 12, 1925 in Peoria, TX, where he grew up, the son of Hugh Maurice and Mollie Wingate Cliett. Immediately following his graduation from Hillsboro High School in 1943, he entered the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he farmed with his dad for many years and also worked for Texas Power & Light. On February 5, 1947 he married Lenora Juanita Evans and she preceded him in death on September 9, 1998. In 1956 he and Monk Kyser formed Kyser Cliett Refrigeration. Hugh Horace and his son, Glen, took over the business in 1979 and changed the name to Cliett Refrigeration. He retired from the business in 1986. In September of 2000 he married Mabel Woods. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, a private pilot, and loved airplanes. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, James Cliett. Survivors include his wife, Mabel Cliett of Dallas; children, Ann Duff and husband, Joe, of Grand Prairie and Glen Cliett and wife, Becky, of Hillsboro; brother, Thomas E. Cliett of El Paso; brother-in-law, Cecil Roller of Cleburne; six grandchildren, Joanne Lugeanbeal, Andi Scott, Joely Scotto, Brad Duff, Allyson Cliett, and Andrew Cliett; and eleven great-grandchildren.
