Ida Jean Duncan, 82, of Red Oak passed way Friday evening, December 25, 2015 at a Red Oak nursing home. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 29, at the New Woodbury Cemetery at Woodbury with Rev. Leah Hidde-Gregory of First United Methodist Church of Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Monday, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

On September 24, 1933, Ida was born in Hill County, Texas to Jacob and Anna Marie (Napps) Jean. She lived in Hillsboro until moving to Dallas in 1969. In September of 1971, she was united in marriage to Howard Ray Duncan. Following their marriage, Ida went to work for the Waxahachie Independent School District where she managed cafeterias at both Turner Middle School and Waxahachie High School.

Ida enjoyed tending to her flower garden in her spare time, but most of all, she and Howard loved to travel with family and friends. From coast to coast, along with the occasional cruise, they enjoyed experiencing the world. She was a member of Ferris Heights United Methodist Church in Waxahachie.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Howard, in 2011; and a number of brothers and sisters. Survivors included five children, Scott Duncan, of Gun Barrel City, Gayla Dennis and husband, Jerry, of Red Oak, Patricia Gann and husband, Paul, of Venus, Lloyd Duncan and wife, Carol, of Hillsboro, and Brenda Duncan of Kaufman; two brothers, Ronnie Jean and wife, Sharon, of Georgetown and David Jean of Crowley; four sisters, Juanita Lovett and husband, George, of DeSoto, Elizabeth Godbey of Red Oak, Brenda Thompson and husband, Windell, of Red Oak, and Shirley King of Daisetta; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
