Ida Fisher, 87, of McKinney passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at North Park Health & Rehab in McKinney. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Sam Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at the funeral home.
Ida was born June 19, 1926 in Itasca to William Lee and Willie Lottie (Smith) Mathis. She attended school in Itasca and worked at the cotton mill in Hillsboro. On December 4, 1944, she married Eugene Coffman Fisher. In 1957, the couple moved to Dallas and later to Garland in 1960. For over twenty years she was an insurance manager at Lone Star Life, retiring in 1984.
She loved oil painting, painting china and ceramics, crocheting, doing cross stitch, and was known for her chocolate pies and pimento cheese. Not only was Ida an accomplished bowler, she was a first rate second baseman playing and coaching softball. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and was formerly a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband on November 19, 1997; six brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her four children, Charles Fisher of McKinney, Rodger Fisher and wife, Mary, of Frisco, Joseph Fisher and wife, Cindy, of Garland, and Donna Carroll and husband, Pat, of Quitman; sister, Myrtle Price formerly of Itasca; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
