Our hearts are breaking as we share the news of the unexpected passing of Dell Irvin on September 25, 2024, in Hillsboro, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Ima Dell Irvin was born on January 28, 1939, in Hill County, Texas, near Milford to W.M. Irvin and Dulcie Marie (Aldridge) Irvin. She was the youngest child of a large family and was preceded in death by three brothers; W.M. Irvin, Ross N. Irvin, Billy Frank Irvin; six sisters, Montrue Doty, Marie Ramsey, Yvonne Lawrence, Ann Cox, Edna Orr and Reda Irvin.
Dell graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy in 1963. She worked mostly in the Dallas area. Though Dell never married, after retiring she devoted herself to helping her family. She spent countless hours taking care of brothers, sisters, and their children and sharing her knowledge of medicine as a guide to better health. Dell was a smart, sassy, fearless lady who knew how to make life fun. Dell lived a life full of hard work, fun, family, and adventure. She was everyone's favorite "Auntie Dell," and she will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children too numerous to list. Dell was a Christian and member of the Church of Christ. Her favorite bible verse and comfort was Psalm 121:1-4; 1. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2. My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and Earth. 3. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved; he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
