Imozelle McGee, 92, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Leah Hidde-Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, at the funeral home.

Imozelle was born November 10, 1922, in the Mountain Springs community of Hill County, Texas to William Earl and Lula Pearl (Mitchell) Girault. When she was 3 years old, she moved to the McMurray community. She lived on a farm and graduated from McMurray School in the ninth grade. Imozelle then attended Hillsboro High School and graduated in 1939 with honors. She worked her way through Hillsboro Junior College and graduated in 1941. From there she attended North Texas Teachers College (now North Texas University) and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics in 1946. Imozelle started teaching in 1942 and attended college in the summer. She taught Typing, Bookkeeping and Home Economics at Mertens High School. The next two years, she taught P.E. and Health in San Benito, Texas.

Imozelle married the love of her life on August 4, 1945, after David Lloyd McGee got home from Europe as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force during World War II. While Lloyd was getting his degree from the University of Texas, she taught Science in the Austin schools. They then moved to Harlingen, where Lloyd went on a training program with Sears. She taught Language Arts at Rio Grande College. She and Lloyd also lived in Galveston, Shreveport, La., Santa Fe, New Mexico, Odessa, Midland, Kilgore and Houston during their married lives. Lloyd died on April 15, 1986.

In 1996 Imozelle moved to Hillsboro where she was President of the Business Women's Club, Devotional Chairman and Secretary of the United Methodist Women, member of the Hillsboro Cemetery Association and was chair person of the High School graduating class of 1939.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Argieree Girault; brothers, Howard Brenda Girault and W. E. Girault.

Survivors include her son, Larry Girault McGee and daughter, Celia Jo McGee; sister, Olive Pearl Hix; four grandchildren, Larry Girault McGee, Jr., Wesley Lloyd McGee, William Earl McGee, and David Mitchell McGee; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 673, Hillsboro, Texas 76645.
